Leif Utne is a globe-trotting content strategist, entrepreneur, activist, journalist and musician. By day, he helps worldchanging organizations increase their impact through effective storytelling and engagement strategies. As co-owner of Cross Cultural Journeys, he managed this socially-conscious travel company’s digital strategy and led tours to Cuba, Iceland, and elsewhere. Leif has led marketing and sales for a variety of software and media startups and spent eight years as online editor at Utne Reader magazine. By moonlight, Leif can be found playing music, rock climbing, facilitating conferences, or driving his son to soccer. He lives on Bainbridge Island, Washington. His super power: jazz flute.

Leif Utne is a globe-trotting content strategist, entrepreneur, activist, journalist and musician. A master storyteller and media maker, Leif helps worldchanging companies and organizations in industries ranging from high tech to financial services to travel increase their impact and grow their businesses through effective content marketing, advertising and audience engagement.

Most recently, he helped launch Tideland, a quarterly print lifestyle magazine for the west side of Puget Sound. As Managing Editor he oversaw the editorial production process, wrangling content from 40+ contributing writers and artists, and executed a social media and PR campaign that quickly established Tideland as a trusted brand in a competitive local media market.

As co-owner of Cross Cultural Journeys, a socially-responsible tour company specializing in small group learning journeys to 20+ countries, he led marketing and financial planning, and guided trips to far-flung destinations including Cuba, Iceland, the UK and more.

During his 8 years as VP of Business Development at Warecorp and DrupalSquad, Leif provided mission-driven businesses, nonprofits and government agencies with high-quality, affordable web development and maintenance services.

Leif has led sales and marketing for several green media startups. And yes, he is related to Utne Reader magazine (founded by his father Eric), where he spent 8 years as online editor and manager of the Webby-winning online community Cafe Utne.

He lives on Bainbridge Island, near Seattle.
